Hernando Cortéz
Known as the Spanish conquistador that led an expedition which caused the fall of the Aztec Empire, Cortéz brought large portions of Mexico under the rule of the King of Castile in the early 16th century. Cortéz was also a part of the Spanish colonizers generation that began the first wave of the Spanish colonization of the Americas.
